Overview of Our Event Planning Program in St John’s
The Event Planner/Public Relations Specialist program offers graduates the opportunity to work in one of the most exciting and rewarding careers available. Students will be equipped with the leadership, organizational and creative skills needed to build careers in a variety of event and promotions settings. Upon graduation you will be ready to plan and deliver everything from elaborate weddings to major corporate conferences, sporting events, trade shows and public festivals. The program focuses on project management, marketing, financial planning, human resources, public relations, fundraising/sponsorship and strategic communication. While enrolled you will gain practical experience coordinating community events while building connections and enhancing your resume.

Event Planner/Public Relations Specialists are employed by tourism associations, trade and professional associations, convention and conference centers, governments and by conference and event planning companies, or they may be self-employed.
High School Graduates or Equivalent
- Grade 12 or equivalent, or Mature Student Status
- Grade 10 minimum is required for Mature Student status
- Level 3 Academic English is a preferred entrance requirement for this program
A student must obtain an overall grade, in each module of at least 70% in order to graduate and receive a diploma. A student must complete all requirements of the Student Success Strategies and Career Planning and Preparation modules as well as the Work Term requirements.
